未央生和赛昆仑流落江湖，以淫技胡混为生。未央生在市镇无聊地游逛，下体却无故隆起狼狈不堪，赛昆仑施展恫吓手段，令未央生巨根投降，不久未央生又再无故擎起，苦恼不矣，唯有走访神医，但神医巳落入黑风寨手里。 两人男扮女装，混作女俘，送入寨中。结果被寨主夫人及姬妾识破，将两人榨干，寨主夫人并透露给寨主知，未央生之巨根实在神奇，要寨主换了“他”。 未央生被绑至神医前动手术，千钧一发之际，赛昆仑打翻房中“迟钝剂”三人趁机逃脱，返回神医住处，神医应未央生要求，为他换回原来自己的子孙根，不料神医助手说未央生的子孙根巳被他人慕名而至，高价换去，那人身下有红痣。未央生晴天霹雳，决意天涯海再也要寻回自己的“根” 。

But Soriya’s waking hours in the apartment and its surroundings are punctuated by terrifying, bloody visions, almost as though she were a conduit for horrors of the past wanting to seep into the present. Inrasothythep Neth and Sokyou Chea’s blood-chilling psychological horror explores a personal and political past through the present, transforming a characterful space into an insidious environment. Surrounded by modern high-rises, this decrepit structure, with its brutalist architecture and peeling surfaces, is a relic from a dark period in history whose painful memories it has absorbed. In tracing Soriya’s ominous journey back to her roots, Tenement hints at a necessary reckoning with Cambodia’s political past without overplaying its historical dimension. It’s an impressive work from a woefully underrepresented national cinema.
