影片改编自意大利作家和记者多梅尼科雷亚（Domenico Rea；1921年9月8日~1994年1月26日）完成于1992年的同名小说。 第二次世界大战期间的1943年。意大利南方坎帕尼亚丘陵地区的萨勒诺一个叫作诺菲的村庄。15岁的米露扎Miluzza（卢恰;卡拉饰）是个过着平静生活的天真纯洁的少女，但对一切都很好奇。 米露扎的母亲农齐娅塔Nunziata（斯泰芬妮娅 桑德雷利饰）是个远近闻名的荡妇，懦弱的裁缝父亲焦阿基诺Gioacchino（恩尼奥 科尔托蒂饰）对意大利士官（洛伦佐 ;克雷斯皮饰）常来家中之事仅仅只有忍气吞声的一些没有效果的表情抗议。家中只有爷爷拉费莱 Rafele（里诺 马尔切利饰）最疼爱她。

People got so angry, dug a hole in front of the fountain, put her into the hole and threw stones at her face. The girl died soon after. The evil went off the deep end, took a revenge of the village and killed everyone except two sisters because the evil wanted them to take care of its baby...
