　　As bacteriologist Lena (38) drives past a burning car, she hears a scream of a dying woman. Lena does not tell her boyfriend how much the incident distresses her, just as she does not talk about the stillbirth she recently had. Instead, she throws herself into her work, intrudes into the life of the deceased, begins an affair with the widower and gradually takes on the role of mother to their son. Her persistent insomnia causes her to lose control between dreams and reality. Finally she accepts the help of a whisperer and then finds her own way to cope with her loss

　　1982年，英国传奇重金属乐队Spinal Tap摇滚乐团红极一时。电影导演马蒂（罗伯·莱纳 Rob Reiner 饰）是Spinal Tap乐团的一位忠实粉丝。Spinal Tap乐团要来美国举行一次复出巡演，马蒂则为Spinal Tap乐团拍摄随行纪录片。本部仿纪录片刻意杜撰出一个英国摇滚乐团Spinal Tap，活灵活现的刻画出了摇滚乐团台上台下表里不一的嘴脸，对当代摇滚乐做出了尖锐的讽刺和嘲讽。　　本片由罗伯·莱纳自编自导自演之作。影片中的电影音乐均由演员们亲自演奏创作而成。
