　　弘治七年，皇上在全国范围内大选妃子。来在同村的两位少女鸳鸯（黄婉君 饰）和朱朱（黄婉伶 饰）相助于危险的夜路，遂互称姐妹，共赴皇宫。　　对于少女们来说，如果成功当选皇妃，无论富贵贫贱都可飞上枝头当凤凰，自然竞争激烈，条件也很苛刻。不光自身条件要好，还要经过严格的培训与层层考试。但更加残酷其实是她们各自之间的勾心斗角、尔虞我诈。　　面对种种的困难与危险，鸳鸯与珠珠能否闯过难关？而面对这残酷的竞争，她们的友情是否会改变呢？

Ayşe, Ali, Mehmet and Zeynep are middle-class millennials struggling to make ends meet in Istanbul. Either still living with their parents or hardly getting by without help from their families, they are all beset by similar woes: money crunch, joblessness, social isolation. In view of the world’s horrors that Zeynep enumerates in her diary entries, these are minor problems, ‘slight disasters’, but they are all-consuming, at least to the extent of making them cry in the still of the night. 　　However, Umut Subasi’s first feature, Almost Entirely a Slight Disaster, is not a melodrama. With an appealingly light touch, it diagnoses the malaise of a generation that has run up against a dead end, one whose future prospects are indistinguishable from a game of chance. This is a world where astrology, the lottery and online personality tests compete with visa and job applications as life-shaping elements. 　　Fittingly, the film is structured around chance and coincidence, with its handful of characters encountering each other in every permutation, as though there were no world outside this small social bubble. 　　单纯善良的女主人公（陈梦曦）踏入了渴望已久的美丽高中校园。霸道顽皮的男主人公（陆晨）对陈梦曦一见钟情，因为李子轩是陈梦曦的同桌，而且他与陈梦曦、梁燕形影不离，所以陆晨对李子轩有意见。陆晨与他朋友们经常整蛊欺负李子轩，一次在操场上陆晨和他朋友一起把李子轩给揍了。善良乐于助人的陈梦曦与梁燕知道后，决定帮助他们化解矛盾，通过接触与了解，陆晨与李子轩及陈梦曦、梁燕之间的友谊逐渐形成。一天晚上，梁燕去参加朋友的生日晚会后，被人绑架了，陆晨与陈梦曦、李子轩及他的几个朋友拿钱去解救梁燕，他们与劫匪打了起来，他们全部被劫匪打倒，关键时刻，班主任带保安队长来到，经过一番激烈搏斗，最终保安队长制服了劫匪。

 改编自赛珍珠的普立兹奖小说，是好莱坞在三十年代开始注意东方题材的代表性作品。影片虽是描写中国农村夫妇的悲剧故事，但主角均由美国人扮演，导演悉尼．弗兰克林也采取西方古典电影的风格来处理，在制作上相当严谨认真。剧情描写保罗．茂尼与路易丝．莱娜本来是贫困的农民，面对饥荒的威胁甚至以烤土充饥。后来茂尼得到了一笔财富，竟整天花天酒地迷恋情妇，莱娜只有发挥贤妻的耐性期待丈夫浪子回头。今天看来类似故事已显得老套，但本片的拍摄与特技表现杰出，路易丝．莱娜亦获得奥斯卡最佳女主角奖。
